However, a man was taken into custody by police at the scene, and within hours it was confirmed that he was a member of the local Gay Men’s Chorus and was due to be driving the lead truck at the event. In the immediate aftermath of the incident, some speculated as to whether it was a potential terror attack. The other is in a serious condition but is “expected to survive”, according to officials.
Two people were immediately rushed to hospital, where one was pronounced dead. Police continue to investigate after a truck plowed into people at the start of the Wilton Manors Stonewall Parade on Saturday (June 19).
